Aloud Privacy Policy

Aloud is built so your reading stays on your phone. There is no account, and the text of your books is never uploaded.

Who we are

Aloud is operated by Joel Holomek, a sole trader based in Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”).

The short version

No account. No sign-up. Speech is generated on your iPhone. We do not receive your library, your position in a book, or what you listen to.

What stays on your device

Your library — books you download or import.
Your place — position in each book, bookmarks, and listening history.
Generated audio — speech is produced on your iPhone from the book text. That text is never sent to us or to any third party for processing.
Settings — voice choice, speed, and preferences.

Because there is no account, none of this is associated with an identity we hold.

What leaves your device

Catalogue requests. When you browse or download a title, your device contacts the relevant public catalogue directly to fetch what you asked for. Those services receive the request and your device’s IP address, as with any internet request, and are governed by their own policies.
Purchases. Handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data — we do not hold it.
We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
We do not upload your books, your listening, or your imported files.
We do not use your content to train models.

If you contact us

If you email us or use the contact form on this website, we receive what you send — your email address, your name if you give it, and your message — so that we can reply. It is used only to answer you, is never sold or shared with advertisers, and is deleted once the matter is resolved. This is separate from the app itself, which still collects nothing.

Deleting your data

There is no account to delete. Removing the app deletes your library, your place in each book, and your listening history from your device. Nothing is retained by us.

Children

Aloud does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be announced in the app, and the date above will change.
